The world we live in is made up of many microorganisms and minute living creatures. These are recognized as viruses, bacteria and parasites.The disease caused through them are known as vector-borne disease which could be transmitted by mosquitoes, sandflies, triatomine, bugs, blackflies, ticks, tsetse flies, mites, snails and lice. Few bacteria’s and parasites are considered friends of humans as they help in many biological activities which are performed by them in their daily life.

Even though they act as supporter yet we could not deny their negative aspects. One such is NIPAH VIRUS. It is a member of the family PARAMYXOVIRIDAE, genus Henipa virus and is related to Hendra virus that infects horses. When this disease is transmitted to humans it is known as zoonosis. These viruses infect pigs and bats that survive on fruits. At times this disease shows no particular symptom.

It was first discovered in a village named Nipah in Malaysia. Soon after that outbreak spread in the year 1998-99 and it reached Singapore.Later it was recorded in Bangladesh and India. It was in the year 2018the state of Kerala was badly infected by the virus. Badly infected could be known with the number 11 people died, 14 contracted the virus and another 22 were awaiting test results. Out of which specific number of people died could not be so easy to calculate. After one year Kerala is again under a threat of the deadly Nipah Virus infection.

The common symptoms of the disease may include fever, headache,muscle pain, sore throat, vomiting, dizziness and acute respiratory syndrome or atypical pneumonia. In many cases these symptoms could be reaching to the brain and can cause brain inflammation which is known as Encephalitis.

“Prevention is better than cure” is the only way to save ourselves from the disease. And the best way to save ourselves is to stay away from the infected people. And if once got infected the person should be hydrated properly. He should be treated with the proper medical care for vomiting. Most importantly one should keep himself away from the infected animals especially bats and pigs.

It is correctly said that if you are aware of certain facts you could eliminate many negative happenings in your life. So is the case with Nipah virus. To get rid from this one should be made properly aware of the causes, symptoms and cure of the virus. There is no cure for the virus except the correctly diagnosing of the disease. Only supportive care could be reach to the infected person. Ribavirin drug is suggested by some of the physicians. A monoclonal antibody had been beneficial in a ferret model of the disease.

In the last is suggested for everyone to stay fit by making proper study of the facts and related items. Its because once you are healthy you make others healthy.
