The environment is the word which includes all the biotic and abiotic elements surrounding us. It includes animals, plants, insects, lakes, seas, oceans and etc. The race for development has led in destruction of these biotic elements of the nature. Ranging from industrial effluents to the domestic wastes each human activity directly or indirectly affect the environment.
The race for development has started in the late 70’s where many countries like Britian, Germany and many more started. Without realizing the amount of pollutants to be released in the environment each country started a sort of a competition. The competition began so rapidly that air, water, land, soil and ground water started to pollute. This adversely affected all the living beings.

It was after the second world war that the world realized the need of an organization which could save the human race from the third world war. Hence United Nation Organization came in effect on October 24, 1945. Since then this organization is working not only in political field but also in social, economic and environmental fields.
Each participant country is actively participating in the awareness for the protection of environment. The United Nations Environment Programme is one of the leading environmental authority which is leading in major problems like ozone layer depletion, toxic waste, loss of forests and species, and air and water pollution. This is associated with environmental organization which is monitoring, analyzing and protecting the local, regional, national and global environment.
The World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June every year. This is one of the principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. It is a global platform with more than 143 countries actively participating and helping the UNEP in reducing the harmful effects of the pollutants.
Each year world environment day comes up with a new theme like in 2018 ‘BEAT PLASTIC POLLUTION’. India hosted the World Environment Day in the year 2018. India is a country where its philosophy and lifestyle has long been rooted in the concept of co-existence with nature. It is the duty of all the citizens worldwide to make earth a cleaner and greener place.
This year it is hosted by China with a theme of ‘Air Pollution’. Through this it will be urging the governments, industry, communities, individuals, NGO’s, students, individual citizens to come together to explore new and renewable energy sources so that air quality could be increased. This can be done by improving green technologies and a worldwide awareness.
It made me to remember one of the famous pop song sung by Great the Michael Jackson – Heal the World (Make it a better place). It is really amazing how far he could see that this song still fits in the scenario.
REALLY THE TIME HAS COME TO MAKE OUR EARTH A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE FOR ALL THE LIVING ORGANISMS. LETS ALL PLEDGE TODAY NOT TO POLLUTE OUR SURROUNDINGS.
AT-LEAST THIS COULD A DROP IN THE OCEAN WHEREIN WE WILL ALSO BE A PART OF SAVING OUR ENVIRONMENT. THAN AT-LEAST WE CAN DIE PROUDLY SAYING THAT WE ALSO CONTRIBUTED IN THE GREEN AND CLEAN REVOLUTION TO SAVE OUR EARTH.
